Many will never appreciate the history behind this show, but it certainly isn't lost on me. For starters let's talk a little about the Great Allentown Fair. The fair runs for a week every year and is pretty much the only time larger musical acts come to Allentown, despite it being the third largest city in Pennsylvania. The fair sees its share of acts such as Keith Urban and Justin Beiber but every once in awhile it can get a fantastic band such as RUSH.
Now in its 158th year the fair booked Rush on August 31st, 2010, nearly 30 years after Rush had last visited Allentown and the fair on September 30th, 1980. On that visit Rush was out road testing Tom Sawyer and Limelight, a pair of songs that would later appear on their Moving Pictures record. Now, 30 years later the band has returned to play the final versions of those songs along with the rest of Moving Pictures and for the first time in 25 years they would again play 2 tracks before their appearance on a studio album.
Along with the historical footnote the show had in Rush's history the show was also quite special for me in that the band I love above all others was playing 2.5 blocks from my apartment and I'd actually be able to walk down the street to see my favorite band play. On top of that I was able to take my 15 year old sister (who actually became a Rush nut all on her own) to her first Rush show.
Now onto the boring technical stuff. A big thanks to Tapehead2 for providing patches I needed to cover up short mic disconnects during the intro video, The Spirit of Radio, Faithless, and Working Man. The longest of these patches is 16 seconds and isn't too noticeable. Next thanks to wwetzels for making the artwork! Finally thanks to the friends, traders and family who came to hang out and tailgate before the show.
I decided against doing anything to this show as far as altering the sound is concerned, just put the patches in and adjusted the volume.
This version is in the original 24-bit/48 format. There is a 16-bit/44 version available so please do not download this show and down-sample it yourself, just get the other version.
Please do not sell this show, alter it without permission, or convert to lossy formats.
